True, GoldenMean
This is really a topic about taking personal responsibility for your safety and the well-being of your family and your community.  I agree that once the cowards figure we'll fight back, they'll stop preying on us.

Hello, Archiew
Seems like we crossed paths in comments somewhere else. Three cheers for this blog encouraging people to be braver than the "bold" criminals who are really cowards, usually picking weak people as their victims. I got into this subject pretty heavily in my blog "The Golden Rule Needs Some Iron" over in Religion and Spirituality. Maybe I put it in the wrong category, but it applies to every category!

True, Gryphon

Therein lies the problem, criminals always seem to be able to get weapons.  I hope to never have to fire my gun at a person, but until crimnals are no longer armed or violent, then I may someday regret not being armed.  I keep thinking about the difference in time between making a 911 call and the response time vs. how long it takes a felon to hurt or kill me or a family member.

Archie, I'm glad you are taking the time to practice with the firearm(s) you own.
I would not want to be responsible for a gun, nor would my husband; therefore we do not own a gun. We rely on our Neighborhood Watch, prudent household habits, and our police force for our safety. However, I would not want to keep you, a responsible person, from owning guns. If only there were a way to separate the criminals from their guns, knives, boxcutters, hands and other lethal weapons.
