What a great story, avant-garde,
Happy birthday (belated) to your son, Sam.  Now the real fun begins, right?

I think that moms cannot help but grow with kids. It's either that, or damage your child emotionally or even physically.

Brandee and I adore them. They can be trying at times, but we never waver in our love for them.

Avant-Garde, happy birthday to Sam
You really should print and save this for him and your wife.  This is too beautiful, it encapsulates everything from your memories of his mom's labor to the WTC attack, a communal memory branded on all of us.  He should trreasure this. Even if he grows beyond thinking you're an infallible god, you are and always will be the one irreplaceable person in his life: his father and your love and approval will mean so much to him.

Whoever says kids aren't our teachers is a moron....
Or perhaps someone who has never had a child. The bible says that, if we will allow it, becoming a mother will teach a woman how to be a better human being.

Such a sweet story. You are an ace daddy and husband and man I can see this through your writing all the time. May God bless you and your family for so many more birthdays for Sam.
