yes we should chat--
when I tell people (even other writers) that I am a freelance marketing writer, respond along the lines of "Huh?" or "What is that?" They have never heard of such a thing. *Most* people think all freelance writers are novelists, article writers and the like. Yet those endeavors are not the path to the greatest monetary rewards.

I approach all this the same I do with going to Disneyworld.  When the park opens first thing in the morning, everyone and their 100 little kids make their way up main street, then to the storybook area. Meanwhile, Futureworld and Pirates of the Caribbean sit until about noon when the throngs have shuffled their way to those spots.

I've been there enough that when I go in, I bank an immeidate left or right, depending on the mood to go to those paths of least resistence.  It's not to say I don't want to see the BIG ones like everyone else.  I'm just waiting for the best opening when I'll have the best chance.  In the meantime, I've done my thing in the ignored areas first.  MY satisfaction is complete with this.    I'm coming up with a new marketing plan for myself for the upcoming year(s).  I had always done the 1, 3 and 5-year writing plans, so it's time.  I'm trying to incorporate a few things outside the mainstream.

Please, let's talk via email on some marketing stuff.  I don't run into many people who fit that mold.  Almost everyone looks for those mainstream things and that's all they aspire to.  I aspire to make a living AND love it.

Great tips for aspiring freelancers!
I'm not interested in writing about podiatry, but as a veteran marketing freelancer I always keep one eye open for things of this nature. Opportunities abound for marketing writers, but you must learn where and how to spot them.
