ssshhh, not so loud, I think she already believes that, I don't think she needs to have it corroborated further...

Naut
Your wife is a saint. You have a short fuse and a stubborn streak other than the one time you were wrong you are a fine man who stands for what he believes to be true. Be blessed and well again soon. I don't know about a bee but I certainly don't believe the man saw you. I miss your posting. Get well!!!

Blanche,
thanks for dropping in, it's always nice to be visited when convalescing! And the cat story is a hoot!

Well, I guess that answers my question, Naut

I think you showed an amazing presence of mind in taking care of yourself under the circumstances.  Funny that the guy came up with the bee story to cover himself (I wouldn't buy it either, if there was a bee, I think he would have been stopped, dealing with it, not driving on down the road).

He did at least have the humanity (or his wife did) to offer you a ride.  I don't know if you're suing him or his insurance company, if it's the latter, I guess it doesn't matter that much if the jury buys his bee story, they'll find for your damages anyway.  I hope that pans out, you deserve compensation after all this crap.

Anyway, about your thumb, I just had to laugh at the idea of opposable thumbs in primates.  A friend and I used to like to tease her cats, at least she did, by waving her hands at thumb and saying "neener, neener, neener, I've got opposable thumbs and can open cans!"  I swear they got very mad at her!

Wiley,

thanks for your kind words! I guess one of my problems is that I'm a bit wanting in the 'dignified maturity' department, !

And I think I will take you up on that invitation, though it will have to wait a bit, since at the moment I'm not even allowed to drive...

Nautikos

As a cyclist, and an older one at that, I appreciate reading this as much as I feel badly for your physical condition.

I do hope, that should there be a next time God forbid, that you not be so freakin' macho and let them take you to the hospital.

Apart from taking care of yourself physically and mentally with a certain dignified maturity, you also are taking care of future legal ramifications that would benefit from legal and logical medical documents provided by a hospital.

All that being said, I never did think about the hill climbing thingy and cars passing right at the time a cyclist may be there on the road.

Thanks for your writing my friend, do get well, and if it'll speed things up, come north for a bit with wifey, and relax hoss.

Rumored,
thanks for dropping by! I agree with you, and that's what I would have done, as would most sane people, which is why I don't really believe that story...

Tanga,
thanks for dropping in! Things are improving, just my patience isn't...

if there had been a bee anywhere near me (crotch or elsewhere) I likely
would have exited the truck very carefully until said bee also exited...

Thank goodness
that you on the road to full recovery. As for the driver. Must be a pure case of negligence bee or no bee.

blackcat,
thanks! And I agree, if there really had been a bee, he probably would have remained stopped...In any case, it seems like the only kind of story he could have come up with and hope to be believed. So he may have been negligent, but not necessarily stupid...

I think that a bee would have been even more reason for him to remain
stopped.  I don't understand his excuse... but well written story.  Two weeks will be done before you know it.
