Your grandson
I hope you share stories of your son and his name with the grandson. I think one of the coolest things is learning how we got our names. My son's middle name is Waters. It turns out it was his great, great grandmother's family name. The men in the family have it as their middle name. My daughter has my last name as her middle name.
My poor son's first name, Ryan, is listed in the books as meaning "capable executive." When we want to annoy him, we tell him (and it's the truth), his dad and I saw this character on a soap opera (I swear), and we both thought he was a tough guy. That's how Ryan really got his name. My daughter is an Ashley after Ashley Wilkes of Gone with the Wind.
A small token that was your son's would be an awesome first gift to the grandson as he is being giving the same name. I think any connection people can be given from their present to their past makes the family stronger. It shows how much respect and value we have for those who came before us.
