Is there such a thing as a good writer?

Or are there just people resonating around the globe?

Thank you so much. You know what? I longed to be a published writer for many years. When  I finally let go of all this miserable wanting, my writing seemed to really get a lot better. Funny. Now I'm not really interested in seeing my name on a book. It will be nice when it happens, grant you. But, I don't sit around and pine for it any more.

I work in Central NC. We had some wind and rain last evening and this morning. I live in extreme Southwest Virginia, so we only received about an inch of rain. I love to see the swirling clouds and feel the cool wind when these storms come through. There's something very primal about them.

What you're saying is very true. Reading someone can become very monotonous. It takes skill to convey meaning in just enough words.

Yes, you are right. It's good to find that equilibrium. It took many years. I think what I was most trying to say is that conveying the feeling is a gift, and learning the skills to convey it is the work that one puts into it.

Frustration is a funny thing. It feeds on itself. I thank you for listening.

Avant.....I think you are excellent at expressing your feelings in your

writing and I can clearly see in the short time I have been here that your writing has evolved. I hope you are considering putting  your work in a book.  Your writings are very inspirational and isn't that what writing is about...to inspire!  BTW, I forgot if you are in Va. or the Carolinas....is the hurricane in your area? Take care and have a great holiday weekend!

I agree that it takes both passion and training ...
One without the other can easily make the reader weary in the reading.  I can care about a little known fact or idiom because you have passion about it.  But if you don't have the knowledge to put it into words or are so wordy that it takes you 3 pages to say what should have been said in one -- I lose interest.

You have honed that skill taking it to such heights that it can make one dizzy looking down from up there.

Expressing
those feelings inwords that make a reader shrae the feelings is where the real skill comes in. I do not think you are doing to badly in that department.

I usually agree with U totally. But "all feeling" will not do (preachers in
thrid world situations -as opposed to "countries"-  what you have have found is the wonderful requilibrium--or balance between your training/practice at the craft--and infusing your humanity/feelings into the writing. I would not enjoy writing that was all feeling: I have students who wroite that stuff inside them...or in theor heads/mouths/intestines---we all need equilibrium. Balance inside & outside/training.
