You are right. Not everyday you are in the mood to crack jokes

Jokes are those private, secret little responses
to something mean or stupid someone does or says. We think one smart-ass thing, but say something "acceptable."  Stand-up comics come out with responses the rest of us keep under our hats. That's why we laugh.

My original jokes are vocabulary-based, or spoonerisms. When I want to vent

I think of Mark Twain's famous book and sponnerize thus0--"Fuckleberry Hinn". You could have fun with leaders and politicos --Prez George Bush becomes Beorge Gush! shalom

Hope u feel better soon- Visit my haiku corner --when I am low, I look up great pcitures

Good stand ups seem to have the knack of talking about something that is common to our everyday experience but we've never though of as funny before. So I think yes I can relate to that. I suppose it must be similar with jokes?

I take my hat off to comedians
I think you have to be very in tune and intellectual to know what you audience will find as funny and what not! I think the same applies to people who have the ability to make up a joke. I also agree with A-and-B that what one may find funny another may find daft.

I think for a while before something strikes me as funny but not everyone shares the same sense of humor.
