Maybe they live in a part of the state that hasn' t been flooded, Maggie.
I hope they're ready for 5 inches of rain.

Passion, we have friends in Virginia and I hadn't heard that there was a problem there. They always call us - nearly every day, actually. Guess we're going to have to check on them. See, I have to tune into you to learn these things. lol

Strat...that's exactly what I tell people...
It's a BIG, HUGE fucking mistake to underestimate any tropical storm or hurricane.
Alot of people won't remember this, but Katrina was meandering around off the coast of Miami looking like just another system till she went across the southern tip of Florida and headed out into the Gulf.
400 miles of warm Gulf Water spells disaster. The governor of Virginia just issued a state of emergency bec they already had so much flooding and are expecting to get another 6 inches overnight from Ernesto.
So, I'll probably be seeing you soon.

Most of South Carolina, except for the upper coast, is fairly safe,
at least right now. Ernesto probably won't hit some of the feeder rivers in the NC mountains, so widespread flooding probably won't occur. And the northeast side of the storm is still ocean side, so the worst weather probably won't happen too far inland.
North Carolina, however, is another story. It got pounded by floodwaters from West Virginia, and the whole area was soaked by rain coming through yesterday. It could get weird for awhile.
Of course, Hugo did the same thing -- started off weak, drifting aimlessly, backed off, went ot a Cat 5, hit SC at high tide as a Cat 4, and became the fifth most costly Hurricane ever to hit the US.

We're supposed to get rain off Ernesto clear up here in Ohio, Passion. That comes tomorrow. Now, we need it but not a big bunch all too fast. That's bad news when that happens.
Have a good day!

Good for you Bel...
Ernesto is moving away from Florida as we speak. Hope you have a fun trip.
Watch out for the gators. They've been attacking humans for no reason alot lately.

Leahgirl....Though Ernesto fizzled out over Cuba...
It Did NOT hurt any of the residents to prepare. Another tropical wave is coming off Africa now. This one could very well be a Charley, Frances or Jeanne.
A dry run but nonetheless important in the scheme of things. I know everyone will agree too, if the next one IS a big hurricane.
I'm glad you took Ernesto seriously and did what you could to protect your family and lessen your losses. So many people are foolish these days. {they are the whiners too....LOL}

And they'll cry if their governments
don't help them immediately. ( I was prepared, in Florida, for Ernesto I'm happy to say - full tank of gas, lots of water and ice on hand, batteries, flashlights, nonperishable foods, cash, first aid kit, etc.!)
