We need to return to producing for ourselves

That way we aren't reliant on foreign countries for imports. Imagine if the oil producing countries decided not to sell to us?  What ever would we do? Remember DDT? We found out that it didn't wash off our fruits and veggies and caused us harm? So much food is imported from all over the world, all a terrorist group has to do is fund farmers and have them "water" the growing plants with poisonous substances, and they can easily cause us grief.

American farmers can grow corn and soybeans, and produce biodiesel ... car makers need to figure outa  way for us all to use biofuels in our vehicles so that we don't have to buy a hybrid in order to stop our dependence on oil.

Local farmers produce all manner of other foodstuffs, from vegetables and fruits, to livestock for meat, milk etc.  We need to support local growers, their produce is fresher and you can see thier animals, find out what diseases they've had, what they've been fed on etc.

We need to go back to producing  our own textiles and put American workers BACK to work.

American workers pay taxes and put back into this country, where big companies ship jobs out which takes taxes from American coffers and puts thousands of people on unemployment and welfare.

Ooops, started preaching there.  By the way, enjoyed your piece, LOL

The U.S. is switching from being producers
to be in the service industry.  We don't make things anymore, we just do things.
