Sorry about the delay....kids, jeesh!

Only 40 homes built?  I imagine that's a lot for Habitat for Humanity to take on by itself.  There should have been THOUSANDS of homes built by now.  Of course, they also have to get water, sewer, electricity to those homes.  But it is inexcusable that so many are still living in shanties.  What a shame.

Totum...the real shame lies in the fact that the govt

Is giving New Orleans enough money to do a decent job of rebuilding those dams and the neighborhoods. But so far, churches and ministries all over America are the only ones actually going there and accomplishing any rebuilding.

Habitat for Humanity just built 40 homes in the Ninth Ward. We can only pray that some of the federal dollars will actually go for what is intended.

I just don't get it, though.  New Orleans was an amazing city, arguably the most historically diverse city in this country.  Potential human misery aside, you would think that at least they would want to protect the city itself.

The whole situation there is completely deplorable.  I've gotten to the point at which I trust NO politicians.  None.

Except maybe Barack Obama...Keeping an eye on that one...He might actually turn out to be decently human.

If there aren't, then the money will surely be stolen by dishonest politicians. Roy Nagin is a snake in the grass who will steal from anyone.

Louisiana is notoriious for its crooked politicians. Many major cities of the world have modern, well-designed Levee systems....New Orleans has a bunch of broken up concrete.

About those Katrina victims.  I can only imagine the horror.  Nothing I've been through could hold a candle, and I've been through a lot of scary, sad shit.  Where IS that money going???

Great post....and it sounds like, at least from this standpoint, I'm glad I haven't been around here!  I cannot stand this aspect of life here on Blogit.....and it was such a shock to me when I first saw it.....I don't know why, just hadn't realized people would pay to be so boorish and rude....but, or course! a captive audience to try to impress with what they probably think are very clever comebacks and one-ups....I wonder if they ever go back and read themselves, permanently making fools of themselves for all to see?  It's sooooo "Jerry Springer"......

I am reminded  that once there used to be bitter critic, probably a journalist, who would incessantly assail one American President's way of functioning. So pissed off  were the staff defending themselves from this man's comments, that he was finally offered a berth in the Presidential staff.... Why ?... because they said that it was better for him to be standing 'in' and pissing 'out' rather than having him standing 'out' and pissing 'in'.

Even if it's some guy in China or India with religious and political beliefs highly different than your own, they're still a human being and deserve respect and consideration.

We have a few people around here that have NO regard for others and NO tolerance for any beliefs but their own....ignorant zealots.

Had all my sisters here today, except Sally.  We  just had a great time, eating and laughing.  I had my sister who is mentally challenged home for a visit and all the sisters came to visit with her.  I loved it, Passion.

You know, I suspect a lot of these disputes could easily be avoided (or, at least, prevented from escalating) if instead of saying, "Bite me!" ... the aggrieved party would simply say, "Get bent!"
