"reality" shows are gimmicks...
cheap to produce because they don't pay good writers or actors. They have no bearing on reality, and bring out the worst in the "contestants" who try to edge one another out. The only ones I watch are the talent-related ones, like American Idol and Last Comic Standing. :)
