About the destabilization of Iraq, some are saying its the best that could
happen.  Our presence has destabilized the entire region.  Allow Kurdistan to become independent and let the Shias and Sunnis settle their disput over who controls the rest.  Put our foot down on Iran's nascent nuclear program before that regime gets nuclear weapons and really destabillizes the region.  Can you say, "al Hitler?"

I don't know, RMA. I think they are downplaying our current military
manpower capability.  Remember, we have 25,000 troops in Korea, thousands more in Europe and still in the United States.  Maybe not enough for a full-scale war, but, if they drop the pretense of being able to save Iraq from it's drop into civil war, use Kurdistan as an ally (as they did to oust Hussein, not mentioning the fact that there are millions of Kurds in Iran), and enlist Israel (as a last resort), it could be done without a draft.  But not for too long.

Hi Saul....I blame Iran's new role in the Middle East on the Bush Admin.

Iraq was the only country that kept Iran in line and now it appears they are in the process of taking over the region. It will be an interesting to see how this plays out. I wonder if they will bring the draft back, since it is clear that we do not have the troops to get involved in another conflict!
