Suffering is akin to physical pain
If we burn our hand, soon we will no longer touch the hot stove. If we suffer for harming others, soon we will not harm others anymore. Do not misunderstand, please; the suffering of which I just wrote must be from and to the soul. I do not mean to say that suffering, as in prison, will cause criminals to stop being criminals.
