hmmmm... I'm not sure what to say to this? He could have been dead?
I don't really know.

Passionflower...honestly i wouldn't have given it much thought
but i was talking with a friend about the class prior to submitting the essay, and like most people my age, still hadn't written a thing, so we are talking about it at lunch and i brought up the idea he was dead all along, and my friend oddly told my teacher while i was coming back to class and from there on...he was like that is some amazing concept you should def. do that for your essay...so that is what i did.....and....yes...i do realize he is dead now for sure...i never really liked Scrooge....but loved the story.

Interesting theory...Never have given it much thought though-
You know he's dead NOW, no matter what...right?

Fascinating and unique light on a classic
and thought inducing. Thanks Penguinrock.

That was a good concept to begin with. Scrooge was given CPR later.

Okay, I guess my own squirrel speak is rusty...

As I think of it, maybe it is "Squeakum, squeak, squeakin' squeak."  Hahahaha.  Anyway, sorry to digress from your post so much.

As for the story, I never thought of it like that.  Beggars not begging because they couldn't see him.  That would certainly explain it.  Puts sort of a Sixth Sense type of twist to the whole story, doesn't it?

I love that movie...hehe...i think i was confused b/c i thought squeakum
was in that phrase....i would like to learn squirrel...along with becoming a chocolate tester...lol.

Sorry... I really am a geek. But at my age, it's no big deal to me. :)

Okay, putting you out of the misery I've started...
The Emperor's New Groove.  Every time I think about that movie, I see the squirrel and that guy having an extended conversation, and then teaching squirrel-speaking classes at the end of the movie.  Hiliarious.  :)

...plus that saying sounds like its more from like a fairy tale type story.
yeah...those first months are not very good for me...i think i suffer from seasonal depression...but that is my theory.

hm....i have no idea....when i read that...i was thinking...
Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh....but i highly doubt that since i read it in like 7th or 8th grade.

yes...question marks are the bomb!!! lol. congrats on being the Queen of AP English...for a while i was like the King...but i sucked at the timed writings.

Oh, yeah,
And if I find myself in a January mourning phase, it's usually because I'm kicking myself for not meeting last year's expectations.  Lately, I've been pretty good about not doing that.  I usually only kick myself now, around my own birthdays.  Working on that, too.  :)

Hi, penquinrock,

I was the queen of AP English, once upon a time.  (Wow, did I just say that?).  Anyway, I just read your "About Me" page.  Here's a test:  "Squeaker, squeak, squeakin' squeak."  Where is that from???

(And yes, question marks are fun.)

BlackPearl1....i am definitely glad you like Christmas as well as I do...
though I confess...i go into great mourning in the month of January...oh...you'll be surprised...this story/essay is amazing....my AP eng. teacher told me that i was probably the first student of his to take Christmas Carol in this direction....and he has taught AP for about 9 years i believe.

Hi, peguinrock, I love Christmas!
And I love A Christmas Carol, in its many variations.  I eagerly await more insight and twist on this story which I apparently don't know as well as I thought.  Do go on.  :)  By the way, I usually start playing Christmas music just before Thanksgiving, and keep playing it throughout January.  I love the season.  I get happy thinking about it.  :)
