Blonde, I'm glad you posted this..way too many people jumped all over
the UAE and the ports deal without knowing a thing, but that's hardly news, it happens all the time...there's always a "Senator Bigmouth" who thinks they know everything...(knee jerk reaction or just plain "politics"??) ...I might have done the same thing if my cousin hadn't lived in the UAE for a couple years and enlightened me back then...good, informative post....

DPW was to accept bids last week on selling the American ports it bought.
Just as they agreed to do.  I am pulled between thinking that it is ethnocentrism gone crazy or paranoid isolationism.  But then, in the back of my mind, there is that nagging statistic of less than 10% of all shipments coming into the U.S. being scanned or searched and a foreign nation controlling operations.  I also wonder that it is racial profiling -- we haven't ordered the Chinese to sell the ports they own on the West Coast and they seem as much or more a security risk as any government on the planet.

Can't agree more
especially with the last paragraph.  We are based on fear these days, and that game is called politics.  I've been to a number of ports, especially on the West Coast.  A little more efficiancy would be a good thing...a lot more would be better.  I'm concerned more about the outsourcing than about who it's being outsourced to.  Can't good ole American's work hard or get organized?  But if we can't then maybe we need to hire out for someone who can.

Blonde--I'm a SAVED Christian;U served in the military & LIVE IN Dubai.This
post is as enlightening as it is essential. But guess what--- the peanut gallery and Democrats do not want education. They suck as liberals too. They have not made the world better, safer or can ever bring about understanding among races and peoples. They have a dogma--like religions do--and they do not adjust to reality. My Saviour teaches me about the Good Samaritan, and saving one's shheep evemn on the Sabbath, not blind, hateful dogma, creed or unthinking slavery of any kind. Shalom * Salaam- Shanthi Aum**  Amen

Safe as anywhere else in the world.

The crime rate is a lot lower here than anywhere in the US.
