Right you are, RAME, and doing what they do best. Going where they're least
needed to do the most damage.

Like everything, Mademoiselle, there are many sides to this story, some

truths, some half-truths, and some outright lying or obfuscation.  There are two problems with this story:   1)  Aldrete-Davila was evading police when they stopped him, which always sets up an adrenaline-fillled situation, and 2) the drugs found in the vehicle would have been found anyway (because of his flight), yet the drugs become a secondary issue because they were found after the incident (he ran as soon as the vehicle was stopped, the "confrontation" occurred, then he ran again, whereupon Compean shot at him).  The problem I have most with this entire thing is that this guy is a drug smuggler who got federal immunity to testify against two Patrolmen who have long, clean records.  The federal government seemed to go out of their way to suspend them even though they had enough for that on the discharge and tampering with the scene charges.  And I can't shake the feeling that Aldrete-Davila is lying his ass off.

No, I've never seen "Three Burials", but it sounds interesting.

That's a complicated story ... and one which raises a lot of complex issues.

Have you ever seen the movie "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada"? Cause that's what this case sorta reminds me of.

Despite the fact that it's really not all that similar, actually.

If you define cowardice as
running away at the first sign of danger,
screaming and tripping,
and begging for mercy,
then yes, Mr. Brave man,
I guess I'm a coward.
