Swftfox c/o YPunday, beautiful pics, especially the lovely clusters of grapes, and your haiku to go with them are all a masterpiece to delight.

Mneme*CeeMarie*Marieclaire*Kat02*Swftfox*-thanx 4 gr8 haiku. Here's a gift
--and I accept the vineyard challemge for today's haiku, Dave. Good suggestion; and anyone may send haiku on any theme, any day--unless you just stretch the mind and words for the suggested theme.

You did say any subject
This is one I thought of in the small hours. Somewhere along the way it became covertly feminist - sorry! At first it was just the third stanza, and as I wrote it grew into a quiet rant.
Pearl
bivalve concretion
prized milky hidden treasure
beauty unspoken
years and patient years
mollusc-borne gem lies dormant
buried in sediment
oyster-embedded
enriched by irritation
lustre unperceived
many seek, few find
pearl diver shark-wary
secrets uncovered
oyster-harvested
hidden beauty softly glows
blossoms in daylight
no more the darkness
precious pearl-bright mystery
quietly glimmers
lacking daily care
pearly lustre deadens, wanes
needing human warmth
pearl of womanhood
follows nature's grand design
patiently waiting
silent beauty lies
amid primordial slime
first needing nothing
tiny speck of grit
foreign body integral
greater magnitude
mollusc carrier
enclosing, rigid, outgrown
secondary, spent
beloved jewel
quietly glowing beauty
revitalised, new.

Look what happens when you miss a few days...
some great haikus and photos.. marie-claire, your poem reminds me a little of muser's rhymes and I was also impressed by the shape it made - lots of peaks. Like a mountain range, side-on - I wondered what it would look like it it were centred... a Christmas tree? Poems have so many dimensions beyond just the words..

Ypun! my friend. maybe you can move this to the next post if you like?
Enjoy fine wine vineyard photos and haiku! No wine before it's time!

vineyard stands silent
fruit of its labor will bring
screams of drunken joy

vines stand, arms outstretched
gifts from God in great clusters
thankful communion

grapevines stand in line
waiting invitation to
hasten love’s embrace

winter pruned to death
spring vines explode, juicy fruit
raise a glass to toast

This is getting to be a dangerous habit: two per theme (for me) = oh oh!

You are too sweet! Cuddly is a nice word for FAT! God gave me what he
took away from you I think. My stupid body makes fat from oxygen. If I'm breathing, I'm gaining weight. Floor in the house almost gave way today when I came up the stairs! hehe, uh, just kidding.

HELLO ALL! BEEN A TRYING DAY AND I'M ABOUT TO DROP!
So here is all the haiking you are gonna get from me tonight. This is a pic of me on the way up the mountain in the second pic. This Old Baldie, near Como, Colorado. Hard to tell it, but the boulders on the top of that mountain are about the size of a sofa! You do NOT want to fall through the cracks cause you can fall a good 1/4 mile INSIDE these mountains. Enjoy!

ok, not a peak experience but... I stay in the valley...
majestic snowy
peaks mirror the sun beacon
for avid skiers
jagged edge cutting
horizon mountain frame
the sky in postcard
mountain deep rumble
avalanche warning below
emergency calls.
the steeper the climb
the sweeter the reward at
the top look skyward

Ah Ypun, it makes me homesick! but thanks for the pic and the memories
of home. One day till your birthday, so you wonder... special birthday poem for you Ypun.
you wonder about life
and look back one more time
at the peaks and troughs
you survey the magnificent view
the sad harrowing times
the sweet rewards
so long awaited
savoured
you search for the narrow track
that brought you so far
and you wonder where
the next bend
will end
you are a mountaineering hero
fighting ice snow and sorrow
as you drive the pic
in rockhard ice
you wince
such grit
you have just reached another peak
culminating in the momentous day
the birth of a new day gifted
long ago for the first time
to an unknown child on
new planet to be
discovered
loved
you have much to think and thank
for all who brought you this far
and your friends will drink
to the mirth of your birth
for you are a gift
to us all
precious
life
and your friends will hold hands and bless
your life with many prayers and hopes
that's what there are here for
some climb with you for
a while and stumble
but know that
none will
fall
for God holds you and will catch you in your fall
for God knows you and will hold
every hope every fear
in his loving hand
and return
his love
tenfold

YPunday-
I think I understand this better now - the longevity, the searching for lessons, the exhaustion, it is a powerful poem I think. ONE more day until your birthday!

Thanks Marieclaire & Sabsline; I need to visit SAB'S Success Secrets too
The poem-picture also reminded me of Peter Jackson and his filming THE LORD OF THE RINGS in the mountains of New Zealand. Anyways, I have another real haiku, and pic, for generous visitors/friends like you:

gory orcs and wriaths
one little hobbit on foot
cannot give up now
somehow there is hope
the trees--ENTS-- will save us if
we see their wisdom

yes I suspect so, but how are we to know?
the point is do you want the reader to know, or just a few select few in the know, or just to yourself? If you want your reader to know, then you must be more explicit, because we are not mind readers. there are many unanswered questions in that poems, there is a feeling of weariness, disappointment and the sheer grit of keeping going, life is an uphill battle if you will forgive the cliché. so is this about troubled relationships? If I want to fully understand this poem, I look like I am prying, but I don't want to. It is up to you if you want to let your guard down, I am here, I am interested in what you have to say, that's all.

Wow marie--thanks for being there- I appreciate your inputs, always
this is more autobiographical than the short lines and cadence may convey---at first, anyway. But you know what you know...and that is a comfort. Shalom my friend.
