TIMMY, I think the more intelligent a person is , the more he thinks about

those what if scenarios. Personally, I don't think it's weird at all. I sometimes entertain the "What if I had been born male?" or "What if I had been born incredibly rich?" and "What if I had been born second instead if fi rst?'

Our lives are preordained but if you are suppose to turn left at a light and instead you turn right could you crash into a diesel truck and die? Did that wrong turn change what happened to you or was that preordained.

I used to say that if I could go back in time

to the guy I was when I was in my twenties, I'd walk up and cold cock him just for being stupid and making my life a little harder. On the other hand, if everything had ever come out the way I planned it, I would be an exponentially bigger asshole than I am now. So I guess it doesn't really matter. Yeah, we could all have done things differently, but what would have been the point, anyway?

I think about this stuff more often than not, and I find it healthy

A lot of the time, we distract ourself with prime time tv, but a different type of thinking is needed for personal examination.

Tim, if you're interested in stuff like choice and fate, you can investigate cause and effect and free will until you decide which belief is more benificial to you. A lot of great philosophical books revolve around this topic. Nothing too deep, just the subject matter of choice.

Personally I think the past is determined, obviously, and the present is spontaneous, and the future is similar to the "illusion of choice" Why do I believe that? Well, because its benificial to my personality. I dont like feeling guilt from responsibility, so I say things are determined to be so. I lets me accept a lot more.

Many people will argue, because they dont like the idea on not being in control, but me, personally, I've realized nothing happens as I plan, no matter how much I plan. So I dont have control.
