One thing that I have noticed in sales, when someone does what it takes to be successful, the reason is believed to be something other than doing what it takes.

Timmy, I've been there, done that, and see that good help gets even harder to get, now that I'm retired.  I feel for ya, Tim.

Oh, yeah, as a manager, I was always a self-starter.

TIMMYTALES, I'm a great complainer, but I try to be inventive in my
complaints, before I get down to fixing it.  Vent first, fix next, I believe.  Also, Gideon my boyfriend is a very solution-oriented salesman.  It's causing him some friction in an office where he is virtually the only (straight) male.   He has resigned himself to not try to educate anyone around him about direct mail, but to keep his mouth shut and send out letters himself. It's amazing how his coworkers will see him going through old files, that no one is interested in, of former sales people then bitch that he is stealing leads.  They were sitting there, and no one was interested before he came along. People.

I used to bitch a lot.
Then  I discovered one of the cruder great trite truths. And that is, It ain't gonna suck itself...

Where I was, they didn't even bother with that....they would just walk right through the mess not even noticing. LOL

There's a sign in a local bar - NO WHINING. I think it is NOT intended for those who see something that needs to done and do it themselves.

TIM

I am now a Managing Partner of a company....but have filled all of those other positions.

I feel that how I got to be in the position I am now is one of my favorite motto's that I learned from a brilliant ex-boss.....the rule in the office was: We were never able to grip about a problem.....we were not even allowed to say the word problem.

We were allowed to address issues, but not unless we had a solution at the time of addressing an issue. All recommended solutions were welcomed and 99% of the time implemented.

By ex-boss believed and I believe as well that there is always a solution and a way to improve, win contracts and get things done!

By not being allowed to grip about issues all day, we were forced to find solutions and implement new policies to constantly improve.

This worked for big and small issues alike.
