- Go to Don't Look For Israel To Let Up Two-Front Assault Anytime Soon
We have been involved in the Zionist movement and the continued welfare of
Israel from "go", Mademoiselle. From Jewish organizations to evangelical and traditional Christian sects, the American people and government have supported Israel financially, morally, verbally and militarily. America sees Israel as a democratic ally in a sea of Arab hostility. The American people see it as an underdog (and Americans love an underdog) surrounded and besieged by enemies, triumphant. American Jews and Christians, for the most part, see them as the children of Israel returned to the promised land, the rightful stewards of the holy land, the coming together of god's people in their homeland, and the fulfillment of prophecy. The religious angle provides an emotional and psychological connection -- you cannot go against god's chosen people.

Time to give voice to yet another unpopular opinion:
Why is it that the U.S. always (appears to) automatically take Israel's side in every conflict? What do we see in the Israelis, that the entire rest of the world somehow seems to be missing?
Now, granted, in this instance the Israelis are (mostly) combatting terrorists. However, I'm speaking more in general terms.
