that is right
this being part of the process  of evolution, naturally it would be imperfect

however, if it were a product of intelligent design, then we have an imperfecton of immense proportions that flies in the face of the I.D's proponents.

I am against Intelligent Design
but what you say that birth deaths (both on babies and mothers) is an imperfection in human species design, doesn't mean it is an imperfection per se. Death is part of the process of evolution. If babies and/or mothers die at birth, it means that something was not completely right in the first place, whatever this "wrong" may be.

Now, with birth deaths diminished thanks to medical advances and practices, that means we are messing with the "natural" natural selection. Then again, looking at a greater scheme, this can be seen as the "natural way" to go for any intelligent species: messing with raw nature.

Right on.
Good point.  Yet another reason the Intelligent Design argument ends up falling in on itself.

janesopinion, what i am saying is
the design of a woman's pelvis has been the cause for innumerable stillbirths, the deaths of innumerable newborns and women giving birth.

If there really is an "intelligent designer" then this was a glaring flaw, thus the intelligent designer is not perfect and is responsible for all these deaths.

the most logical explanation for this is evolution and the development of bipedalism in humans.

Xenox, I could not help but laugh.
So are you suggesting that an Intelligent Designer should have widened a woman's hips by another six inches or so?  For easier passage of the newborn?  I would imagine, if that was the case, there just might be a lot less sex going on - since the preference among males is generally for thin women (errr, at least that's what Hollywood sells).
