- Go to I'm making an apology NOW 4 implying Zidane's victim called him "TERRORIST"
Blackcat, marieclaire, A-and-B, dave...thanks for the input. Nonviolence is
my work, my calling and method. But one needs to be assertive too; I work at being assertive yet full of love for those I disagree with. I did not write about the bombing in Mumbai/Bombay, but I wanted to cool off, not say things against my Faith and dedication to peace for all, especially my "opponents". Zidane does have a bad record of reacting with anger and violence. But like Marieclaire, I practice forgiveness, because,
inter alia, I want that for Jesus for myself.

Nobody other than the two of the involved know what exactly transpired. There will always be speculation.

60 per cent of the French have already forgiven him.
He is still a great player regardless and the French won't forget that. I don't condone the head butting but I join the other 60% who forgave him already. How generous of me! The "mother" insult probably hurt much more than the head butting. The Italian guy did not get half as much as he deserved, underhand weasel crying wolf. Well two wrongs don't make a right, and adults should behave like adults, not like kids on the playground. In effect, Zidane's last words were words to that effect "well he started it" and he apologized to children first which I found odd but understandable. Last on the list was the offender. Not much of an apology really. Playing dirty, that's what it is called.

I doubt that the Italian player is gonna come clean with what he said. Why
incriminate yourself and offer excuse after the fact. However, do I think the headbutt was justified? No, I think if we are going to resort to violence over a verbal insult, we have no right to expect the world to abstain over country rights or what have you. Although, in Zidane's defence, I would have probably dropped the guy too. I don't always practise what I preach!

we all have our triggers, but no, I don't think any amount of name-calling
could excuse the head butt. Trash talking is commonplace in most sports, but you have to keep a cool head and play your game. This was a championship game set on the world stage. His actions are inexcusable to me. He could have seriously injured the Italian player with a direct blow to the chest like that.
btw... from the article I read, Zidane did not release the actual words spoken. He says it was an insult to his mother and sister, but that's all. There's no mention of a terrorist whore in anything that I've read. Plus, the Italian is denying he mentioned his mother, as his own mother died when he was 15. It's all still in dispute.
