Habib
No such thing as being too insensitive on this blog. I actually am looking for comments such as that as it will prepetuate certain stereotypes, that may in some part be based on reality. Where do streotypes come from anyway? They have to start with some sort of foundation, and usually there is an underlying truth to them. It is not insenstive to say that there is a high percentage of gas stations run by arabs if that is what you see on a daily basis. How is an observation like that insensitive. It's just like saying you see a lot of (if not all) white people in polka bands.
Now, whenever I hear the name Habib, I think of 'Married with Children'. If I recall correctly, their is an episode where Al takes a job at a gas station and has to where a shirt with the name Habib on it. I think this is where I saw it...at any rate, I know 'Married with Children' did perpetuate the Habib working at a gas station stereotype.

Just ring me up, Abdul!! Habib is waiting on me in the cab!! LOL>
Anyway, hope that wasn't too insensitive. Besides, it's been a while since Mr. Drucker ran the General Store, so... Welcome to Blogit, DeIntinis.

That is a good story. I love the part about your mother yelling for them not to steal anything.

P.S.
Sorry about the enormous blank space at the end of my previous comment. I have no clue what that's about.

I don't particularly care for overly friendly attendants ...
I wish people would just do their jobs, and keep the mindless chit chat to a minimum.
In fact, just recently, I endured a rather awkward encounter along those lines, which I posted about here:
