This lawsuit is probably the pre-amble
to movie companies making santiized versions of thier own movies for greater profit and larger attendance and sales.

When I saw "Woodstock" on base at Offutt AFB in 1978
I wanted to see the reaction amongst the troops there (many pretty hairy and quite a few either ex or practicing potheads) to the natikonal anthrem by Jimi Hendrix. They had crudely cut it out.

In my opinion this is less about the censorship issue
and more about coopyright violation, etc... MOST movies have to be edited for airing on local television and it is done by the company that OWNS the movie.
I can't take someone's writing and "clean it up" then turn around and sell it without that writer's EXPRESS permission. Why should it be any different for films?
