People seem clueless as to the fact that owning slaves "back then" was what everybody did, which doesn't justify that ownership, but was certainly the mindset then. I'm sure some were good masters while others were terrible. I'd like to think that our Founding Fathers were decent, but they'll have to answer to God on that one. It is sad that Jefferson's legacy has been condensed to one line: he owned slaves.
Next, we'll be hearing about all the homosexuals who were in Hitler's concentration camps "as well as a few Jews," or some other such nonsense.
