Offbeats, I agree. And sadly, the parents in many cases have not
been doing their duty.

Janes

I think sex should not be taught in school. Not any sex, straight or otherwise. Parents need to be responsible for their own children's teaching on this subject.

Sunnybeach7,

all the laws in the world cannot make people tolerant.  Tolerance is impossible to legislate.  I believe people must be taught as children to be tolerant and respectful and loving.

But just so you don't get the wrong idea, it IS possible to be tolerant and respectful, but to also respectfully disagree with a person.  And in the debate between Christian morality and homosexuality, that tolerance is frequently missing (from both sides).

Gomedome, not that you'll be back again,

but you missed the part about California Dept of Education having the ability, with one of the three new laws, to withold 2/3 of a school district's budget.  THAT is certainly more than the $250,000 you keep harping on.   Sheesh, did you even read the damned post?  Probably not.  You had an agenda from the beginning and skimmed through determined to find fault.

Pathetic.

JanesOpinion - your response is even worse than I expected
Do you really think that a dollar figure that amounts to less than pocket change is going to affect education standards in the state of California to even a measurable degree? Do you really believe that? And do you really believe that national studies and statistics concerning the disproportionate rates of gay teen suicide, have the reasons for these suicides all wrong? I'm not going to waste another keystroke here.....if I have anything more to say, it will be in a post.

This wouldn't be an issue if people promoted tolerance..
which a large percentage don't

LeRoyC, you'll note that I am really trying hard to be civil and

diplomatic on this.  I do feel your pain for sure!

Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks Justi.
It is ironic that Jesus has been removed from the public schools, and replaced with EVERYTHING else -- including many OTHER religions.  Just not Jesus.

Xenox, in your comments on judging Christians,

you make a valid point.  BUT!  It's a minority of homosexuals who are really pushing their agenda in the schools, and because the majority are afraid of appearing intolerant, are caving in to the demands of the minority.  So it's the students who lose, who are forced to learn more about the gay lifestyle at the  expense of a quality education.

Keep in mind, guys, that I am not opposed to the homosexual as a person -- not by any stretch of the imagination.  Nor do I support or condone any violence or intimidation committed against a homosexual.  But at the same time, I also do not support special rights for gays.  Is that so hard to comprehend?  Heck, I'm even moving closer to supporting some sort of civil union for them.  (Woe!  I know, I'm rocking the boat!)  Make a note of that -- "Jane may be edging closer to support of civil unions (of sorts) for homosexuals."

gome, what does a high suicide rate amongst gay teens have to do

with quality of education?  My biggest gripe against the gay agenda (in the school system) as they work to shove their agenda down American throats is that it will be done at the expense of true education.  Instead of learning the Three Rs, kids will be learning about how Johnny met Kenny, and encouraged to experiment with gay sex. Hello, Gomedome, but last I checked, American students (I cannot speak for Canadian students) were struggling when it came to "reading, writing and 'rithmatic"   and really don't need to have what little education they ARE receiving taken away from them.

Now, regarding the high suicide rate amongst gay teens, has anyone ever made a correlation between "gay," "suicide" and "sexual molestation and abuse?"  I think there is a high rate.  Many of these kids have been molested by someone they trust and frequently as a consequence turn to homosexuality.  That is a huge problem and one that needs to be dealt with, but certainly not by schools.  The schools can barely teach, let alone counsel these kids who are struggling.  Any depressed or suicidal teen needs love and counseling whether gay or not.

Hoot, man, don't speak to me about one sided approaches; I've certainly read enough of YOUR blogs to comprehend how completely one sided a person can be.  As well, I'm not into deleting comments, no matter how antipathetic they may be.

JanesOpinion - wow - what an incredibly one sided take
I don't know why I bother and you can delete this comment if you like but I have to ask someone who would post something such as this one little question. What would be your solution to the disproportionately high suicide rate amongst gay teens? Despite your tirade here and your biased take against the pittance of money being spent on this issue, what solution do you propose? Ya see, that's ultimately the intention of spending this money, that is the point of promoting acceptance of any segment of the populace through education. It is an attempt to alleviate a real societal problem at the source.  HERE is a very good article about this. (half way down the page under the heading "Teen Suicide")

Jane's Opinion this is the best, very best post!
They took Jesus out all by himself only blessing others because he might offend Judy and Jackie. They replaced him with Bobby and Billy. I want others to know that offends me, my child, her child and should all children. So what are they going to do about it. I loved the Circus Court.

we shouldn't go around judging all Christians

by the actions of a few of the more outspoken and ridiculous such as Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell or others.

conversely, we shouldn't go around judging all conservative by the rantings of the Rush's and the dirty tricks of Pat Buchanan.

conversely, we shouldn't go around judging all homosexuals and liberals by the actions of a few radicals.

Revisiting
I probably feel this is worse than you do, Jane.  They keep wanting good publicity for what no civilization has ever accepted before.

Thanks, FMW!

I do find it interesting that none of my usual opponents have deigned/had the guts/taken the time to comment.  Hummmmm.

Yeah, I wonder what they'll cut out to instead showcase homosexual accomplishments -- the Constitution?  Gettysburg address? Actually, that might be OK, since most grads likely know few details about these two events anyhow.

Sad.

WritersBlok -- innocence? The activists seem not to care about this!

What matters most is that we fill their little minds with adult issues so that by the time they are adults -- they're seriously going to need some heavy duty therapy.

Thanks for stopping by!
