brettnik,
Very nice. And eerily familiar. It's a beautiful story. Wow. I could have written this, all the way up to the last part. I haven't met the "one" yet, but I'm glad to read that it does actually happen in real life. Thanks. :)

Actually, the whole story is even more romantic. I'm writing it down for my kids. We put the dime back under the floorboard for another set of star-crossed lovers to find...

I'm not sure that everybody wants to hear about the stupidity of a young girl. I guess I made my share of mistakes. Lucky for me I found the person with whom I share my life. Thanks for your interest!

I haven't seen "Map..." but I heard it was great. I turn 40 this year, so I'm right there with ya! Thank you so much for your comments.

Brettnik -
Interesting, though I did get lost a bit following the characters. But I liked where you went with this. Are we going to find out more?

good to read about some passion
Your story needs more to go on to permit the reader to keep clear on
which friend is which. As it stands, it seems hard to follow.
Would it make sense to add in false names if you are worried about protecting identities?
Also, a little more detail on the character of each of the principle
people - how do they tend to think and view the world, etc. That way,
when we meet the person again, you could even use the device of saying
something like "our ever-idealistic Gary" or something like that...
But in general, I did enjoy your story alot. I'm an old guy (41) and it
seems the years when so much romance was going on for me are long over.
I appreciate your writing these love adventures here online (are they
auto-biographical?) and they capture the passion of life in the way
that the inner feelings of the narrator are presented.
Best,
Doug
My favorite romantic movie was the 1993 "Map of the Human Heart".
Have you seen that one?
