Jazwolf,
I've never heard this song, but I like the words.  Somehow, I guess we can all relate to it a little bit, especially those of us still waiting/searching for our big break.  Thanks.  :)

You have to laugh I guess

if you don't you could cry.

My husband said he wanted me to paint a few pictures for him (back when I was an artist not a writer) to bring out after i dies to make him rich. Now I guess I'll have to leave a few manuscripts. LOL

Brettnik--- You're right! That song was written back in the 1970s, I think.

Nice, and very often true I am certain. Now instead of closets
full of writing, people will discover somebody's hard drive.

This is profound but sad!
I know quite a few of us will probably fit these lyrics and not be "discovered" till we're dead...

Wonderful poem.
Such irony though, immortal in his fame...The most famous painters were scorned and laughed at in their time, only after their death did their paintings become admired and fetched astronomical prices. Some people never live long enough to enjoy the fruits of their labour. That's sacrifice for you. A glorious epitaph to look forward to?
