you are reading from the King James, which decides to interpet many things there to match their medieval belief.

Here is another article on "the cross"..... 1 Corinthians 1:17-29. This is the report of another man like you and I but who Jesus stopped while he was on his way to stop those rediculous persons in Corinth who were too sophisticated and wise to believe or consider this Jesus.
After that encounter, he was translated and inspired to write the wise men in this manner (referenced above):
"For Christ sent me not to baptize but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of nene effect. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved, it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to noghing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise, where is the scribe, where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom know not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save tham that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness. But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, we preach Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men............

the name has been invested with all exousia and dunamis of heaven and earth. All beings and all matter is subjected to it, in heaven , earth realm, and under the earth.

its really not so much the cross as a symbol
that Im interested in, being displayed, etc. It is the Name of Jesus Im interested in.
