I keep coming back for the same reason.  LOL!  The sunburn seems to be a tradition for me.  Luckily it never lasts more than a day or two and then becomes a nice tan.

Bel, there is so much graciousness here it makes keeps me coming back,

There are just so many wonderful people from all over the world,, who are so astute and have so much political, military and historical savvy about world history and who are not anti-American in any way.  It's really amazing that we have this kind of online community.  I hope you and Carl had a great 4th!  (Take care of that sunburn).

bel, I have alwasy felt like our two countries are joined at the hip....

our armies have fought side by side in many battles, shared victories and defeats..and I thank God for the U.S. because He gave you the superpower status to rescue the world from the likes of Hitler..

and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that if terrorists were to strike Canada, the U.S. would be there in a heartbeat to help us...:)

Bel -
Friends of mine who live in other countries continually speak of the giving nature of our people - not the government - and of the amazing hospitality they've experienced when visiting.

As always you have such an amazing way with your beautiful words.  I read to my husband what you wrote his comment "I think we need to take a trip to Spain so I can shake that man's hand."  Thank you so much my friend.

Bel

Unfortunately, I don't have all day, cos I've got things to do, but here are a few reasons.

From the early 19th century, when America made the first serious attempt to suppress the Barbary pirates,

to 1917 in WW1, when the Allies had no chance of defeating Germany without American forces,

to ditto in WW2,

to the post war Marshal Plan ( the greatest act of altruism in history )

to turning Japan into a democracy,

to being the backbone of Nato,

to putting and end to the Bosnian War,

to remaining our best shield and hope for the future. One could go on ond on.

Some people don't like the idea of a superpower, well tough! So, who would you prefer to be top dog : Iran China? Russia? Get real, people! Come out of the world of illusion, and into the real world. And love America!
