He is so much like me that it is scary!!! No one ever wants to see their child in a position that could hurt them, but you are right, it comes down to standing back and hoping for the best

Both of my sons joined up here at that age too. One navy and one army. I am happy they are older now and don't have to go to fight the mist of the Taliban. Of course I don't hear from them at all, it's like they're gone anyway you know

Timmy, my boy went into the military (Air Force) and ended up being
there for 20 years. Yes, he did his turn in Iraq. It nearly drove me crazy, but, thank God, he did come back to us, and he retired a year ago March. He is now the Director, Emergency Management Agency (EMA) for our county.
He got his bachelor's degree while he was there. We are most proud of him.
You are right to feel the way you do, but you also know, you must let him go. Good luck.
