There have been special smoking areas here for many years but now they are taking those away. There is no smoking period!  Seems silly to make something that is legal to buy illegal to use

To exclude places like casinos and the airport is wrong. It should be all or nothing.

Hi there
Tell us more about this ban on smoking. In South Africa, we've had a ban on smoking in public places for a few years now. Resturants, etc have to have a special smoking area set aside. From what I've seen, the only ones who have suffered are the tobacco companies - People smoke less. Business recovered very quickly from this.

It's always been illegal here.
But many use them anyway, and I haven't ever heard or seen anyone get in trouble for it.

I think the cops just look the other way. LOL

TIMMYTALES, Seattle passed a no-smoking ban last November

No one is supposed to smoke in any busniess or within 25 feet of a public doorway, which, in the city is pretty much anywhere.  I have mixed feelings.  I don't complain if someone lights up when we're outside, because there aren't that many places for smokers to go anymore.  I'm not sure about the effect on bars, since I hardly go out to bars anymore.

If a smoker makes an effort to be courteous, like sits downwind of me, I am usually okay with it. The owner of the coffee shop is a smoker and several regulars are smokers and I hang out with them outside.  Usually they just make sure I'm out of the stream of smoke.  I wouldn't dream of getting them busted, I love that place.

Like the fireworks, some ignorant yahoos ruin it for everybody, forget to take sane precautions.  Well, anyway, if we dont' hear from you by Wednesday, I guess we'll have to send the Blogit Bail Bonds for you.

Timmy, around here they are having people sign petitions for a smoke free
city.  I don't smoke but I have friends that do, and I won't sign.  Be careful with those fireworks...hopefully you won't get caught.
