Aaromb, I have no problem being a mindless Bush cheerleader. I happen
to agree with what they started out to do, and as they have vertebrae, they haven't altered their cousrse, so I don't need to use much cerebral power to continue to support what they are doing. It's very refreshing for US politics.

Kingmi - yes, that's tragic when it happens
however, opponents of the war (and the president) are quick to just blast anyone who shows any support for the war as being mindless Bush cheerleaders.

Aaronb, what astonishes me is the failure of right wingers to think
independently and without fear.

I heard Iraqi PM Maliki
is proposing a giant reconciliation plan, two elements of which are amnesty for insurgents who haven't committed major bloodshed and gradual US withdrawal.
Compared to many others I'm a conservative hawk, but I like it. I'm more interested in ending the insurgency than in revenge, and slowly withdrawing troops at Maliki's request rather than whenever Democrats give up is a victory rather than a defeat.

It will be nice if it truly happens
But from where I sit, I see troops leaving everyday for Iraq...it's not quite adding up.
