There's a reason that certain

religious figures have said to be holy (or enter heaven) one needs to be as a child. 

I've seen kids at the beach spend a happy afternoon  together, different races,  kids whose families have different religious faiths, different social classes. Until parents start worrying "what people will think" they, too, seem happy with the natural acceptance among the children.  "They" don't have to come to our front door with guns or kidnap our grandmother to keep us in line.  All they have to do is make us worry about what people will think.  Our friends may not like us if we...., or that we'll be unpopular if we speak out with a criticism of the rich, powerful, etc.  So we stay silent. We don't offend anybody, or defend an unpopular (if sensible) opinion.  Silence is death.

As Someone...

...once said, in the battle between 'good' and 'evil', it's always the people who get killed.

And when it's the little people, the tragedy is so much the greater.

What kind of a world are we creating for ourselves when we routinely traumatise the little ones? Are we not just creating the next generation of angry, disaffected, numbed and radicalised folks to continue this madness?

Very good article...

I can't help thinking about the people I hear on the news though that want us to be more outraged by the soldiers that were mutilated.  Because they are "ours" I suppose, who cares they signed up to play war.  Very good points about how the kids are the ones who suffer most from the war and from sanctions.
