Thanks, Blanche. Yeah, it's some pretty terrible news, R.I.

They were found, SlyCy. The Iraqi official statement was that what was
done to them was "barbaric".

You get a feeling of connectedness with those you know being in a place
you're not, a sort of vicarious connectedness. My cousin was over there for a little over a year. He was a supply officer and had to accompany convoys to one destination or another. With attacks on convoys and IEDs being constant threats (and still are), I found myself paying particularly close attention to news about convoys. I was glad when he came home for good about six months ago.
I have another cousin in the Special Forces stationed in Egypt.

Saul
I'm glad I made a point of not seeing the news tonight. This is the first I have heard about this. DAMN!
You see Carl was all over the Al-Anbar Provence. His post was there and while where these men were a bit more south than Carl had been, somehow I still feel as if he is there and these soldiers will ALWAYS be mine.

I'm afraid you're right, bel. These guys symbolize everything these
extremists are fighting against. No, I fear the worst for those guys, and even though they haven't made it official, the last missing soldier was supposedly killed on camera (the image was grainy, so the military has ruled the evidence inconclusive). And if you are an overwhelmed warrior on an outnumbered side of a conflict, do you release warriors who may fight again another day?

I can't even begin
to put into words what this does to my heart. It all still feels much to close to home for me. I am afraid these soldiers will not fair nearly as well as Jessica Lynch.
