I can't wait for the many. If I recall you are a bit further south than I am so I expect you probably have a ton by now.
I'll have to watch the blinks tonight!

Last evening, around midnight, I went outside to get a breath of fresh air. I couldn't sleep for anything. I have six acres, and the fireflies were all over it. It was truly beautiful.
I have read that the rate of blinks per minute determines the sex. For example, males blink every 6 seconds, and females every three. I can't rememeber which is which.

Bel, you're not going to believe what I did last night...
I went downstairs to lock up for the night, and went into the kitchen, I squashed the poor lightning bug....by accident of course...

Awesome About You and Husband
We used to have them in this area, yet for some reason they no longer exist. I used to like watching them and chasing them.

I keep telling Passion
Just send a disaster to Michigan!!! The door is open here, we can sit out in the yard, build a fire, make hotdogs and smores over the fire and watch the fireflies!

We used to chase them as kids.
That's why they probably bring you such peaceful, calm feelings. They're associated with fun-filled childhood. We don't have a lovely place like that anymore where you can sit outside after dark and watch the fireflies and listen to the frogs.
I miss having a house out in the country. Guess I could always stroll out to Midway Road and watch the drunks at night wildly carreening down the road trying to get home without gettng a DUI.

They are amazing to watch Rumored
I've waited a year to sit and watch them with Carl and now they are HERE! I know it's a silly little thing but for some reason this makes me so incredibly happy!

I LOVE fireflies, too...this is rather cruel, but as a child I used to
smear fireflies on my turtle's shells when I took them on night walks...it helped me keep track of them with that light on their back.
