Saul
I don't believe they have "lost" sight, I don't think they ever HAD it in the first place.

Just trying to do what's right, bel. Just like you, your husband, and so
many others caught up in this thing.  Different sides doesn't necessarily preclude one side or the other from doing what's best.  Unfortunately, our politicians have lost sight of this extremely significant fact.

Saul

While we may stand on different sides of this conflict, on this I agree with you.  I spent too much time last year seeing those troops used for photo-ops, ratings and votes.  It sickens me to the very core.

Well stated and thank you for doing it in a manner that says your piece without being volitile.

That should read "so our troops can come home," bel. Send my best
wishes to your husband; tell him that everyone I know, non-military, military, ex-military are all behind him and the rest of our troops no matter what the politicians say about there being a great division.  We can and do support our troops despite wanting an end to this worthless and counterproductive war.  We want them all safely returned, godspeed.

You are absolutely and undeniably correct. You husband is also right.
These are mere glamour photo-ops and poll pushers for these damn people.  The typical soldier could care less about why they are there (unless they're carrying papers for them to be sent home).  And the increased risk to the troops when these self-aggrandizing narcissists go on their "fact-finding missions" is incalculable and all too real.  Stay the hell home, you elected morons, and figure out how to sensibly end this destructive charade to our troops can come home -- where they belong!  There, I said it.

While My Husband Was In Iraq Last Year

Our Govenor visited his unit.  The one thing Carl has to say...short of the stupid woman can't talk without note cards and she forgot hers was he didn't quite get the point of all these people showing up w ith their cameras beyond trying to increase voters.  They get in the way of their job and for a day everyone has to play "Kiss ass" as he put it.

When they started looking for people to eat a meal with the Goveror someone said something to Carl about maybe being one of the "lucky 3", his reponse.  I eat in my tent so I can talk to my wife...at least I know why she is talking to me.

They all need to keep themselves out of the way of the troops, they have enough to worry about over there without wondering who is going to find out they have an extra target and find themselves under attack for that reason alone.

Just my .02
