Education could be...but what I see is a machine to promote propaganda and create a worker class.  At least in America.  That's one of the reasons I'm homeschooling.  I hope to raise an entreprenuer, not an assembly line worker.

I agree with you

I agree with you. However, I believe that while formal education has its place in society, it falls almost embarassingly short in many ways.

It teaches people about history, but does not really teach them about morality. It teaches people to be ambitious at all costs, without teaching them to be kind citizens. Instead of teaching students to think for themselves, it very often demands only that students parrot a canned answer in order to meet the teacher's expectations. It seems that the focus is increasingly less on learning and growing mentally, than it is on giving the teachers what they demand.

Now, don't get me wrong. I am big believer in education. I believe that one should learn as much as possible about everything they can. I also understand the reality of a society where one needs a piece of paper to prove one's value to others. However, I have found that I have learned more during my own self-study and meditation than I have ever learned in any teacher's classroom.

I must say
that the highest education is that by which we unlearn the things of this world and the ego.
