I agree with you here.  The King James is a translation, nothign more, nothing less.  I personally use the ESV, because I think it uses better language today and is more true to the context, grammar, and syntax of the original languages.  The NKJV is good too, but I don't usually use it.  I also prefer to study from the original Greek...I've not learned Hebrew yet.  I think this may be one thing that we agree together on Xeno-x.  Oh, but even though I know the King James is a translation and not the original text, I do hold that the the Truth of the Scriptures is maintained in it, although a deeper study into the original language is needed to get a full grasp of the words and meanings. 

I once walked into a church on a Sunday morning.  I overheard someone arguing the relevancy of the KJV.  He said, "And I told him, I said, 'If the King James was good enough for Paul, then it's good enough for me!'"  I did an about-face and walked out the doors.  Thanks...Cricket ><>
