Azur, You gave good advice.  Pointing out someone elses mistakes, problems, stupidities, makes one look petty and sometimes worse than the one they are trying to out.

Justi Thank you very much.
I can't help thinking that you are making an analogy between soccer (not succor BTW)  hooligans that doesn't really work. The soccer fans that I know come from many  political spectrums - impossible to define as for or against the war on terror. The beauty of it is that it shows people have something in common beyond politics.  As for the thugs, as I say in my next post it is like defining all of the population as criminals just because there are some criminals

Azure
This is an excellent post. I like your advice. I appreciate your comments on my post re: succor et el violence. I would like to discuss this some more with you. We are not far apart in our opinions I just think perhaps we are not talking about the same core thing. Thank you again.

Hi, Azur,
I think this is excellent advice.  Hard to take, but still excellent.  Sometimes being right just doesn't seem quite enough, though it really ought to be.  I'm speaking from personal experience in my own work place.  It's happened dozens of times, and yet I've still lost sleep over it.  Wow.  Some of us really do need lessons in how to relax and let it go, i.e., choose our battles and bridges before starting the fight or lighting the match.  Thanks.  I love venting here.  Your posts really help me to open up the flood gates.  :)

I think it is dangerous to give advice, or rather, to take general advice.
You've heard of situation ethics?  It is hard to say exactly how big these fools are, or rather, how big the hoax that they are trying to pull off is.  Sure, lots of managers get away with murder because somebody above them is either duped or wants them to get away with murder.  It is hard to say how one should go about straightening things out without having all the facts....

sometimes we let go of too much too but it's better that way than they other

this is all very hard

some people say that it is the letting go of the small things that allow the big things to happen.

However I tend to ask "How Important is it?" and let bags of stuff go,

Azur,
In the big picture, the petty little things may seem to get more important than they really are, just because they are so glaringly obvious and constant, it's easy to get caught up in them.  I agree, in principle, it's a good idea to let them go.  Some things are worth making a stand for on principle, stating one's case, and THEN  letting them go.
