I'm glad I finally found this post!
I read your message on my blog and must say thanks for your comments - its always nice to hear positive comments about teachers amongst all the negative ones that are out there!

It's also great news to hear about your daughter - I wish her well with her future studies and schoolwork.

Maggie
We certainly did not do it alone, Pam had a wonderful team at school that worked really hard with her.  IN the end if Pam had not put in the work she would not have made it.

bel, congratulations to your daughter many times over.
What an accomplishment.  Don't you know that child had to work her butt off to catch up like that.   She must have had a lot of parental support.  That's great!

I don't think you ever mentioned before that Joyce taught.  Somehow from the way you have talked of her, it fits.

Rumored
A teacher that cares will follow their students for the rest of their lives even if they never see them after they leave their classroom.

I think too often we forget when our child has a good teacher that this person puts in alot of time and effort to be a good teacher.  They deserve much more thanks than they get.

Bel -
That's just too cool! I have some close friends high up in the state school system in Minnesota, and they have all kinds of stories of success like yours.

Bel...and I'm happy for you and Carl. I also agree that people REALLY
need to say thank you to those who help out not just our children, but as as well.  So many people are not given credit where credit is due.  Congratuations!

You're right, bel...there are some good ones still out there...
my oldest daughter is a Teacher's Aide, and she meets some nice ones (teachers) who really care...they are so much easier to work with than the ones who dont...

Passion

I must disagree it is HARD being a parent in general.  It is easier being the wife of a soldier than a parent.  Being a good parent is even worse.  But it's not hard to make the best choices for her based on what we know.

Believe me there were days that Pam hated both Carl and I over her school because shcool came first...it would have been easier to let her go play and not fight with her, but it was not what was best for HER.

Great post! You guys are doing so good with her.
It's not that difficult to be a good parent, is it? It makes you wonder how people could choose otherwise.  Hugs to Pamela.  Does she have a puppy or kitten?
