Good advice, and...
since you've established yourself and they know what you can do, that your work is professional, it would be a mistake to sell yourself short.  But I'd add one little thing for the newbies, the ones who haven't had a byline or proved themselves. If they're interested in the project, even if it doesn't pay enough, take it. Do the best job they can. It's a foot in the door. (and if they make money they have to pay income tax on, the related expenses are a legit deduction).

Good for you!
It's a good thing to do because you leave yourself open for assignments that pay you what you're worth, and have more time that's not wasted.

ABSOLUTELY
you have to learn to set your minimums.  I have set my mural painting minimum, and therefore don't paint nearly as much.  I am still working with my writing minimum!

they will always try to low-ball you
Don't feel guilty for turning down an assignment because it didn't pay enough. I work for a newspaper and we don't have enough staffers, yet, they are not interviewing the way they should be to fill the vacancies. It's because they rather use freelancers because they are cheaper by way of no benes. So, make sure you get the rate you want. And in those times when you really want the assignment, don't be afraid negotiate with them. Good luck.

Great post...I'm glad to hear you have that much work coming

Your way....Why, I remember when you were just a young whipper-snapper, first startin' out, all wet behind the ears...LOL!

All you wanted was to make a living writing...that's my dream too.
