Thank you everyone for your kind words, Strat and Taps
thank you so much for understanding. Yes it is so difficult. But in the end I can't be selfish I need to do what is best for her, and that is the hardest part of all.

MerryAnne, You make my heart hurt for you. Your kitty has been blessed to have those years with you. If cats have regrets, I'm sure she would have none. It is you who will hurt when her time comes.

There never are pets like a favorite.
They all have distinctive personalities and quirks that make them so special. That's good -- you don't ever replace them; you merely find another animal friend.
But it is hard to watch them get old. And it is very hard to say good bye. I've loved my dogs far more than I care for most people. It is a true loss every time I have to say good bye to one of my wonderful, gentle golden bears.
Take care, Wonder Twin. This sort of thing is never easy.

and, if you're like me
ten years later, you'll still miss her from time to time. Would she want you to be without feline companionship after she goes? Maybe you should adopt a second one, an apprentice for your sweet companion.
