I hate how this has worked out, but I will be there for Carl and be ever so proud to be standing next to him. I am trying to remember that what I will do for my other troops will mean more than being one in a crowd of 100's.

There is a chance this was scheduled before they knew the date of the other unit leaving and they could not have known about the one soldier from our unit as he recently transferred. But it still stinks!

Will understand...They're military families too. So they know how it goes. Just pray for them....they will need strength to say good-bye once again to their loved ones.

I agree. One of their own is deploying again. My friends husband was in Iraq with Carl's unit and he is leaving again barely 6 months later. The soldiers want to be there instead of being honored. This is such a tough situation for all of us. Unfortunately the military has the final word and it stinks!
