That's why I choose Switzerland as a model for national development,
WhiteJedi.  War is such an unproductive, detrimental, cost-ineffective process.  Besides, someone always has to get killed in wars -- and there really is no justification for that.  In all things diplomacy, my friend.

Interesting Thoughts
I don't believe any soldier should massacre innocents.  What the marines did in Haditha was an act of revenge and mindless brutality.  What I find more disturbing is the incidents that have probably been successfully covered up.  Haditha was only caught because of an Iraqi journalism student.  I'm sure there are victims who had no voice to speak for them.  War is not something any nation should aspire to.

Absolutely, fwmystic. Nor do I beleive everything coming from the left,
either.  I have found that if you can find the nexus, the opposing spins produce a pretty straight line.  Unfortunately, it is also narrow as hell and constantly being bent.

Saul - excellent points ...
of course, you have to be somewhat intelligent and have an open mind not to totally believe the bs spewing from the Republican spin doctors.

An ugly state of affairs.

I'm in agreement on that, glennb. I believe any unlawful act by a soldier
needs to be prosecuted.  In this instance, I think the coverup form higher up came after the incident, which makes it a crime after the original.  Coverups are such messy businesses.  And those who partake in such need to be prosecuted to the fullest estent also.

Saul_Relative,

Very well said! But your premise of supporting the "rest" of the troops is a bit self-serving! Soldiers are not required to obey unlawful orders! From the top General to the last private there has to be an accountability for this "genocide" against the Iraqi Peoples! There are many Iraqis as guilty as well! What ever happened to those Iraqis who fed the American administration the "goods" on Saddam Hussein??

Haditha is just the one that got caught! No my friend, I do not support a single soldier who is afraid to stand up to his superiors and follow the oath he took as an American Fighting man!!
