- Go to Convicted Killer Seeks Sex Change Surgery at Taxpayer's Expense?
What if this is some grand ruse?
Put in woman's prison and he's in hog's heaven. That's probably farfetched, so I say let him kill himself. He murdered his wife and deserves to go to prison. The people don't owe him anything.

It appears the man is wanting a simple solution death if I don't get my way. Give it to him. Give him a choice the one time use of a .38 calibre issue pistole, or banging his head against the wall until dead, take your pick boy.... No surgery on this watch. I went 34 years without hospital insurance because I could not afford it. Now it is his turn. I paid taxes all that time too.

I think he should be allowed to kill himself.. He murdered his wife and if allowed the operation he would have to be sent to a woman's prison.. with all the real issues going on in this world this should not even be recognized as a option..

Thanks Nautikos
Calling them CONVICTS -- what a novel idea! Let's do away with all the fluff and PC crap and give them the punishment they deserve.
I shudder to think what would happen should felonious CONVICTS be allowed to vote here.

Corbin,
I can't add much to what has already been said about this man and his 'case'. But it wouldn't be a case if we didn't permit it to be one, which I was reminded of by Damon's comment. He suggests this guy is 'just pulling chains' , which may well be one of his motives. And here's my point: we give inmates too many chains to pull! We give them far too many 'rights'. One Canadian example: in 2002 our Supreme Court ruled (in its wisdom?) that the inmates in federal penitentiaries have the right to vote in federal elections! In other words, killers, rapists, drug dealers and thieves helps to decide who runs this country!
(As for the rest of Damon's comment, JaneO has already dealt adequately with his in(s)ane reference to the Iraq war.)
One more point while I'm at it: what's with all this talk about 'inmates', a term I've come use myself? These people are convicts, lets start calling them that again.

I see our friend Damon is back with, as usual, his reasoned
comparisons (i.e. comparing a sex change op to the Iraq war). Forgive me while I choke and sputter on my fish and chips. Can anyone else see the utter absurdity in that comparison?
Regarding the sex change op, I'm appalled that the prison system is even paying for his hormones and whatever other requests he has. My dad works in the CA prison system as a counselor/social worker and has horror stories to tell regarding this sort of thing. Of course, with transgender issues becoming more popular, I don't think it will take long before this is rampant throughout the country. I recently came across a form (I think it was a high school permission slip of some sort) with the options for gender as: a) male b) female c) transgender. Needless to say, JanesO pretty much flipped her cork after reading that.

Ahhhh...
...the sharing, caring society that is America!
No worries about spending
£285 BILLION on a futile and unwinable war, but a few grand for a sex-change operation? NO WAY!!!
Actually, I reckon this guy is just pulling chains. If I ever wound up in jail, I'd play the system for all it was worth, too. What else is there to do in there?

You know, there's a way to do this...
Seems like he/she could down his own zipper, place the object of his troubles against the door jam of his cell, and let someone just slam the hell out of it. Not only will it remove the offending member, but he'll definitely maintain a high soprano.
Shouldn't cost more than about the $5 an hour they pay corrections officers, anyway...
