Something you should read
Read King's own explanations for his series. If I remember correctly, the Dark Tower books are based somewhat on the poem The Wastelands. If this transfers into King's other writings, it does make sense. Many authors tend to use certain themes throughout many of their books--whether the books are in a series or not.
