- Go to I Need Some Help Here.....I'm Confused About A Certain Aspect Of Nature....
Strat, FactorFiction + FRanklyMyDear.....All good thoughts
Okay, a flirtatious mockingbird or robin. And like FactorF. says....nature does what it's going to do at any time or place. How true...Thanks for your theories.....

You probably have Mockingbirds arguing over real estate rights.
Mockingbirds sing every song in the woods, all day and all night. It's mating season and they're especially vociferous. So get used to it for about the next week to ten days or so, unless one sells out or finds a girlfriend.

Yup I have learned that one...
Nature does what it likes, when it likes, where it likes... If nature wants to get into your house, it will. If it wants to nibble your shrubs, it will. If it feels like making a racket in the middle of the night you have to either make it so that it no longer can, or sleep through it...

Thank you, Frankly...The best theory thus far....
I see robins flying around here constantly. The only fly in that ointment is this....the bird songs sound very exotic like toucans....No toucans here in New England...but you get my drift...

are they male robins?
...those little buggers do all their courting calls from about 1AM to 3:30 AM right outside my bedroom window,....it gets dark ehre at about 10:30 and light again at about 4AM, so the light is very differnt, so it might not be robins that you have, but I'm betting its' male birds hoping to do the watusi when the sun comes up....

Lol, Blackcat....I know exactly what you mean....
As you know, I'm not a bird fan. I do respect and love all of God's beautiful creatures. But the cool thing about birds, when I hear them chirping away in the morning, I at least know, that God has given me another day. So here's to birds everywhere...

sorry, I have no idea. LOL I was very upset a couple years ago when
bird took home in the tree outside my bedroom window and woke me at 6am every morning with their singing. They never seemed to realize when it was Saturday.

A great thought, Burly...But....
maybe different kinds of bird species have come to live in the grove. It's a clean, healthy area and maybe it has just attracted more bird neighbors? Well, thanks for your take on the matter.

Lots of times, exotic caged birds get loose and breed in the wild. We have a growing parakeet population in this country because they either get away or people release them. They've adapted well and seem to have toughened to the climate, even though they're tropical. Just a thought.

Medusa,
I was hoping to find the answer to that one from some savvy bird lover in your comments. It does sound unusual for birds, who I thought had a better body clock than that, to start twittering in the middle of the night. But then, I'm not always fond of birds. Depends on the species.

Hi Lens....No offense taken. I was trying to be coy about drinking...
I'm just wondering what is causing this chatter? Have you ever heard birds up like that in the picth dark? I am just puzzled. Nice to see you again...

I was hoping to find the answer for your question here in the comments
section... very intriguing - perhaps some randy birds? or something is stalking them at night - hoping for a feed and the birds are protecting themselves?

Hey, I didn't mean that
you had been drinking

I was joking about those partying birds. The way you described them yacking it up in the middle of the night, it reminded me of an apartment I used to have in Halifax, not far from a small bistro. Those tipsy patrons, leaving the bar, would always wake me around 1:30 a.m. with their shrill chatter. In their half-tanked condition, their voices always sounded more penetrating and sharp, like your birds. I'm with you -- loud chatter works better in the daytime

But Lens...I like my birds in the morn...not the dead of night....
Something doesn't sound right. Do you hear birds at 12:30 AM???? I swear I haven't had a thing to drink..It is a nice area but, many cars go up and down the long avenue...kinda spoils the natural serenity. Nice to see you here...

Hi Medusa
Sounds like some new bird bistro has opened in your nabe. Just like people, birds probably sound different when they're half-tanked. What are the closing hours in New England, anyway? Those feathered fiends are partying way too late.
PS: Your area sounds really nice, though. I love having either woodlands or water near me. Either one will do.
