they contradicte each other

the synoptics either state frankly or impoly that Jesus immediately went into the wilderness for 40 days

John relates that he instead was seen by Johon the next day and that disciples began following him and that he began gathering disciples -- there is no space there for the 40 day wilderness experience.

but -- the wilderness and the three temptations can be quite metaphoric of his life and preaching in the "wilderness", as John stated, "a voice crying in the wilderness"  -- not a landscape, but a human ocndition -- void of viability.  the temptations -- I explained that as little while ago, either in this blog or in another.

Because John didn't see it does not make it untrue. He wrote what God told him to write. As did Matthew, Mark and Luke.

NOPEACE, in case you're wondering and
don't want to scroll down to the comparative scriptures,

it's John 1:32 -- 48

JOHN SIMPLY DOES NOT MENTION THE 40 DAYS IN THE WILDERNESS
immediately after the Baptism by John, Jesus goes away and disciples being gathering.
you will no room in John's account for the 40 days immdediately upon arising from being baptized, as the other gospels recite.

the passages you will find a little earlier in this blog.

I'm a bit unclear where John says Jesus didn't spend 40 days in the wilderness being tempted, could you point that out in the scripture? If you can't, I'll understand.

Xeno-X, whether he did or did not, one thing is for sure -- those
who choose to follow Christ, do have their own times of being in the wilderness tempted of the devil, and you can go to the bank on that!
