Just because her son is a jerk, doesn't mean she doesn't care about the baby. I am guessing she offered to send the money in order to not ask you to take the money out of your own for something she wanted. Send her some pictures. Taking the money is your own decision.

Don't do it...
Don't send her anything. Once she gets her foot in the door she will just want more. It will cause problems for you later on. It's a nasty thing to say, but it's true. If her son wasn't such a selfish jerk you wouldn't even be in such a predicament. You hold on to that baby tight... if they truely cared they would have been there from the beginning.

whether her father is in the picture or not
shes still the baby's grandmother.... the child deserves some kind of paternal connection
